The Walk-a-Thon was an amazing success! The students loved it. We gave them whistles and noisemakers and played fun music while they walked. Melissa Kohlmeister lead cheers and we had a great party! Several students and teachers even asked if we could have a walk-a-thon every week :)
We counted the donations turned in so far and were overwhelmed by the amazing generosity of our Buri families and friends. We thank you for supporting our students! Close to 40% of students so far have participated in fundraising. That is amazing! We hope to do just a little better. We are a few thousand dollars away from meeting our goal to be able to bring Playworks to our school.
We are still accepting donations through this Friday March 4 so there is still time to participate! If you lost your envelope you can print a donation form HERE and turn it in at the office or to your child's teacher. Some of the fun things kids will do at Science night:
- Learn about polymers making a bouncy ball
- Explore states of matter by freezing bubbles with dry ice
- Look under the microscope at prepared specimens like animal blood and onion skin
- Make your own musical instrument
- Observe chemical reactions by making elephant toothpaste
- Much more!
Big thanks Aleah Valenzuela and Carlos Thomas for planning this event for Buri Buri! We still need a few volunteers to help out at the event so if you can give 30 minutes, please email us at buriburipta@gmail.com
See you Thursday at 6:30 in the MUR!
